Jeffrey L. Danhauer, Ph.D., CCC-A, FAAA, ASHA-F, is Professor of Audiology, and Chair of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of California Santa Barbara where he has been a faculty member since 1978. He also taught at Bowling Green State University from 1974 to 1978. He earned his B.A. from the Ohio State University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Ohio University. He was a research consultant to the House Ear Institute from 1978 to 1996. He has directed numerous dissertations and theses for his students, published over 100 articles and 5 books, made over 100 presentations at professional societies, edited over 40 books as Editor of Audiology for Singular Publishing Group, Inc., and served as reviewer for several professional journals. He is a member of several audiologic associations including: Fellow of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), the American Auditory Society (AAS), Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), Founder and Fellow of the California Academy of Audiology (CAA), the California Speech-Language Hearing Association (CSHA), the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology (ARA), the Pan American Audiology Society (PASA), and the American Tinnitus Association (ATA). He is past Chair of Education for the CAA, served on the Membership Committee of the AAA, Chaired the Student Research Forum for the AAA, and was a member of the Program Committees for the ASHA, AAA, CAA, and CSHA. He was on the Board of Directors for College Hill Publishing, Inc. and Singular Publishing Group, Inc., and is presently a trustee of the AAA Foundation Board, and a member of the Board of Directors for ContentScan, Inc., and the AAA Task Force on the Non-acoustic Benefits of Hearing Aids. He holds the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology and is a licensed audiologist and hearing aid dispenser in California, and owner of Hearing Consultants of California, a private practice, since 1978, through which he has served thousands of normal-hearing and hearing-impaired infant, child, adult, and geriatric patients and their families. He is also the Audiology Consultant to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Lompoc Hospital Newborn Hearing Screening Programs. His special interests include aural rehabilitation, hearing aids, otoacoustic emissions, diagnostic speech perception tests, newborn hearing screening, and outcome measures.
